An Introduction to Neutron Sources (and instruments)
This year ISNIE engineering summer school will held inconjunction with the DENIM workshop and kindly hostedby JPARC facility in Japan.
This years event follows the tried and tested to bringing togethers experienced members of the community to share their knowledge and enthusiasm, around a subject which counts, with those less experienced.
By popular request, this years topic will be neutron sources and the interaction with neutron instrument design and operation.
Over the course, the basics of neutron production will be introduced and used as a framework to understand the diverse array of research neutron sources in operation around the world. The key technologies within sources will be elaborated, highlighting their coupling with instrument configeration and the overall optimisation required to maximise scienctific performance.
Complementary approaches will explore the operational constraints and strengths of different source types and financial considerations.
Courses will avoid jargon as much as possible but are intended for a technical audience with some background knowledge.
