September 28, 2023The final version of the NEUWAVE-11 Abstract Book is now available. You can download it in the NEUWAVE-11 participants area (password required). We have also updated the NEUWAVE-11 program and added information on the Walking Discussion scheduled for Sunday, October 22.
September 13, 2023We have updated the NEUWAVE-11 timetable and made available the first version of the NEUWAVE-11 Abstract Book. Along with the workshop program and abstracts, the abstract book contains useful information about the workshop venue and nearby restaurants, formats of the oral and poster presentations, and details about the workshop dinner, J-PARC/JRR-3 tour, and RITS training course. (Registered attendees will be contacted soon with the password information needed to download the abstract book.)
Additionally, the location and time of the workshop dinner has been decided: Gonpachi Odaiba , October 24, 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm. Gonpachi is a traditional Japanese-style "izakaya". While a significant portion of the dinner is covered by contributions from our sponsors, a seperate fee of JPY3,000 for attendees and JPY6,000 for accompanying persons will be required. See the program page for details.
September 4, 2023The deadline to sign up for the J-PARC/JRR-3 site tour has passed. We appreciate the great interest shown in both the site tour and the RITS training course.
Registration to the main workshop, including the walking discussion and workshop dinner, will remain open until September 30th. If you haven't already, we encourage you to complete the registration and join us in Tokyo!
August 22, 2023Important announcements regarding registration:
  • We ask that those wishing to attend the J-PARC/JRR-3 site tour to please complete your registration by August 31st. This is to allow additional time to complete the necessary paperwork related to the site visits.

Overview

The 11th Workshop on Neutron Wavelength-Dependent Imaging (NEUWAVE-11) will be held October 22 – 26, 2023, in Tokyo, Japan. The NEUWAVE series of workshops brings together leading researchers from all over the world in the field of energy-resolved neutron imaging, a new neutron imaging methodology that utilizes the energy/wavelength dependence of the neutron transmission to provide improved quantitativity. NEUWAVE aims to foster collaborations and advance the field of energy-resolved neutron imaging through the free exchange of information and experiences that can be best achieved in the more intimate workshop setting. The main topics of the NEUWAVE workshop include present status of neutron imaging instruments, development of imaging methods (Bragg-edge imaging, resonance absorption imaging, imaging utilizing neutron interference effects or polarized neutrons, etc.), development of detectors and instrumentation, and applications of energy-resolved techniques.
The RADEN instrument at the J-PARC MLF, born out of the discussions and collaborations fostered by NEUWAVE, stands as one example of the fruits of the NEUWAVE workshop series.

Past NEUWAVE workshops:
2008 Garching, Germany
2009 Abingdon, UK
2010 Sapporo, Japan
2011 Gatlinburg, USA
2013 Lund, Sweden
2014 Garching, Germany
2015 Mito, Japan
2016 Abingdon, UK
2017 NIST, USA
2019 PSI, Switzerland

NEUWAVE-11 will open with a NEUWAVE tradition, the walking discussion, on Sunday October 22nd in the Tokyo Bay area. The workshop proper will be held from October 23 through 25 at Miraikan – The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation and will consist of both oral and poster presentations. As another NEUWAVE tradition, only a limited number of oral presentations will be accepted to allow ample discussion time for each topic. A workshop dinner will be organized for one evening during the workshop period, and the workshop will be followed by an optional tour of the J-PARC and JRR-3 facilities located in Tokai, Japan, on October 26th.

A training course for the RITS (Rietveld Imaging of Transmission Spectra) software, originally developed at Hokkaido University for the analysis of Bragg-edge transmission imaging data, is scheduled for October 27th in Tokai, Japan. More information on the RITS software package and the analysis of Bragg-edge and Bragg-dip transmission spectra can be found here , and details on our RITS training course can be found here.
