Provisions relating to chemical safety

In order to prevent injuries or accidents from occurring to personnel associated with the experiments, and to ensure the environmental safety of J-PARC and its surrounding areas, the chemical safety team will check whether the samples or chemicals brought into facilities are in accordance with the following:

• "Specified Chemical Substances" as listed by Appended Table 3 Specified Chemical Substances and "Organic Solvents" as listed by Appended Table 6-2 Organic Solvents of the Order for Enforcement of Industrial Safety and Health Act
• "Poisonous Substances" as listed in Appended Table 1, "Deleterious Substances" as listed in Appended Table 2, and Specified Poisonous Substances" as listed in Appended Table 3 of the Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Act
• "Dangerous substances" as listed in the Appended Table 1 of the Fire Service Act
• "Class I Designated Chemical Substances" as listed in Appended Table 1, and "Class II Designated Chemical Substances" as listed in Appended Table 2 of the Order for Enforcement of the Act on Confirmation, etc. of Release Amounts of Specific Chemical Substances in the Environment and Promotion of Improvements to the Management Thereof
• Target substances requiring a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) issuance according to Article 57-2 of the Industrial Safety and Health Act, and Article 18-2 of its Order for Enforcement
• "Class I Specified Chemical Substances," "Class II Specified Chemical Substances," "Chemical Substances Subject to Monitoring," and "Priority Assessment Chemical Substances," according to Article 2 of the Act on the Evaluation of Chemical Substances and Regulation of Their Manufacture, etc.)
• Annex III Chemicals in the Rotterdam Convention
